The < R O B O T S >

"Robot, which is derived from a Czech word meaning "menial labor," got its modern meaning from a 1920 play, R.U.R. (Rossum's Universal Robots), by Czech playwright Karel Capek (1890-1938). The robots in Capek's play develop emotions and overthrow their human masters. A sinister "power struggle" with robots has long been a popular theme in science fiction." Saint Eugene

Saint Eugene might be the Saint of the Month Club's magnum opus. After a few months of photo research, writing, rewriting, massaging, tweaking, voice overs and sound effects, he is finally here. Even his wife Phyllis will say that Eugene was a pretty complicated guy. It's not possible to hold a singular and unified vision of him in your head.
During his 83rd year, as his relatives, friends and coworkers traipsed through his home to bid him adieu, he seemed to have had a conversion - not of a religious nature - but something more psychological. In those last couple months of his life, some of the darkness of his psyche lifted and he began to realize how much he was appreciated for his Byzantine reveries, his sharp and sometimes brutally candid humor, his eccentric originality and especially for those of us lucky enough to have been his offspring - his powerful influence as a man that saw all of life - from the mundane to the profound - as being steeped in a sort of novelistic emotion.
So long, Eugene Henry Gosfield.

Bobby Beddia AKA Saint Bobby B.

When I went by my local firehouse after September 11th to pay my respects and broke down - it was Bobby who threw an arm over my shoulder and said "Hey, you're supposed to be comforting me." Robert Beddia had a good smile and a way with words. A lot of people, including myself, are really going to miss him. I originally made this homage to him back 2003 - but now it counts for more than ever.

Saint Pink

Born on leap day, in the year of Nineteen Hundred and Ninety Six, Saint Pink - like any other eleven year old girl - has her hopes and dreams... but she also has the uncanny ability to grant the wishes of others. She lives around the corner from me so when I am in dire need I take a spin out my front door, down the block and over to her house. I tell her what I need, she tosses a fistful of pixie dust on me and I go along on my merry way. I hope you have as much luck with her as I do. Saint Goldhuber

The Saint of the Month Club has had no larger pleasure than working with the Renaissance figure, the multi-talented actor, dancer, choreographer and cabaret-ist, the one and only Saint Goldhuber. He was perhaps a stunt man, a trapeze artist or a tumbler in a previous life. He is also, by the way, a pretty nice guy. We welcome him on this first day of Spring. Saint Angie of Pontani

The Saint of the Month Club is honored to have the beatified beauty, Saint Angie of Pontani gracing our digital portfolio this Valentine's Day. Worship her and a big hunk of love is likely to come your way. Need more Angie or need to meet the other Pontani Sisters? Go here.

Saint Morph. Call it the Saint of the Month Cub's greatest hits - or a fit of self plagiarizing - but here you'll find the Saints of yesteryear (2001, 2002 and 2003) madly morphing into each other. The Drone

I held down regular jobs once upon a time and it wasn't pretty. But these days trying to keep afloat, paying for health insurance, homes, kids and all that 21st century entertainment sometimes requires the security of the guaranteed paycheck - and the shackling that comes with it.
